“Our intrepid Outreach Officer, Steve Geary, who describes himself as a "beer drinking, smoking, 48 year old registered blind man" has just completed a gruelling 140 mile canoe trip from Devizes to Westminster to raise funds for OPEN SIGHT.
Aided by Sim Yardley paddling alongside and Debbie Ross and her son Ben bringing up the rear with a chuck wagon, caravan and the essential supplies of beer, Steve kept going through canals full of obstacles including sunken cars, shopping trolleys, marauding ducks and geese and the tidal waters of the Thames.
No mean feat but so much more because of Steve's sight loss! Determination, perseverance and courage - Amazing Stuff!
Take a look at the short film on the link – and it’s not too late to donate and support Steve’s incredible effort!”
